John Hayes started his career path 20 years ago in Libby, Montana as an apprentice in a high production taxidermy shop. He then apprenticed with the previous owner of his current studio, Dennis Dumont, for five years. These two very different experiences have given him a well-rounded education. Now having owned and operated Hayes Dumont Taxidermy Studio for five years he has shipped his work to customers from New York to California from Alaska to Hawaii. His work appears in hotels, museums, restaurants, doctor’s offices and graces many hunters’ homes. This is not a production studio. John places great pride in the details of his work. No short cuts are taken regardless of what the project is. All of the work is done in Hayes Dumont Taxidermy Studio. Each rug is stretched by hand and the mouth cups are individually airbrushed, all forms are custom made or altered for each hide. Every piece of taxidermy is specially made, even if the hide isn’t provided by the customer. John spends his leisure time varmint hunting, fishing the high lakes, and backpacking with his wife and daughter. Feel free to call with any questions.
